Many clients ask me what tools I use to ensure pinpoint cuts and solid assembly.
On this page, you'll find a selection of the equipment I bring with me to every job site.
If you have to assemble more than one piece of furniture, the manual screwdriver will destroy your wrists.
A good screwdriver:
It saves you hours
avoid stripped screws
tightens precisely
it tires much less
It's the only real “game changer”.
It seems trivial, but it is the most common mistake.
Using the wrong bit = ruined screw + nervousness + wasted time.
Always keep:
PH2 (the most used overall)
PZ2
some torx
They cost little and make a huge difference.
A crooked piece of furniture is visible. Always.
Kitchen cabinets, shelves, and cupboards: if they're not level, doors and drawers won't close properly.
A simple level saves you a lot of trouble later.
Some furniture must be anchored for safety: tall bookcases, wall units, single columns, narrow shoe racks.
There's no improvisation here.
Good drill + suitable wall plugs = safe and stable assembly.
If the wall is old or made of plasterboard, it's best to be careful or ask for help.
When I arrive at customers' homes, they often take a box out of a drawer and say, "Don't worry, I already have the pieces. "
But the truth is that before drilling you have to stop for a moment, because the anchor is not chosen at random.
It depends on two specific things:
What kind of wall are you facing?
How much weight does that piece of furniture have to hold?
If you pick the wrong anchor, maybe today everything seems fine, but in six months the furniture starts to move.
And when it does give in… it's never a pleasant situation.
If we are faced with:
solid concrete
solid bricks
compact wall
The classic 6 or 8 mm nylon plugs are fine.
For example for:
light shelves
low furniture
lightly loaded wall units
Normal plugs don't hold here .
Special anchors are needed:
plasterboard anchors
butterfly / swinging
metal anchors
Otherwise the furniture will tear from the wall.
If you need to fix:
kitchen cabinets
tall columns
large bookcases
heavy furniture
and you're not sure about the wall… better stop for a moment and evaluate carefully.
You can't improvise with fixings.
Small but lifesaving.
Perfect for:
fix linings
beat without damaging the wood
arrange backrests and panels
A good set of screwdrivers remains an essential tool, even for those who work with power tools every day.
There are situations where the screwdriver is too powerful or too bulky. For example, when you need to:
make precise adjustments
tighten a screw near a delicate edge
work inside a piece of furniture that is already assembled
fix hinges or guides without risking breaking your head
In these cases, the manual screwdriver gives you control, sensitivity and precision.
With your hand, feel the resistance of the screw. You immediately know if it's gripping well or if you're forcing it too much.
A good set should include:
cross (PH and even better PZ, widely used in furniture)
cut
different sizes for working on hardware, hinges and adjustments
When assembling furniture, especially kitchens and cabinets, having the right screwdrivers means working better and causing less damage.
The screwdriver speeds things up. The screwdriver finishes things up.
And when it comes to precision, finishing makes the difference.
If you have these 5 tools, you can easily assemble: bedside tables, chests of drawers, desks, shelves, small IKEA furniture.
